As part of our education mandate, these theme days are designed as a school field trip destination to give students a first hand opportunity to experience rural life as it was in Alberta in the early 20th century. The program is specifically tailored to the Elementary Pioneer Life Social Studies Curriculum.
The program is presented by volunteer members of Pioneer Acres. Visiting students will be able to see and be a part of such exhibits as:
*Exhibits may vary according to weather and the availability of volunteers and equipment.
The exhibits run from 9:30 am until 3:00 pm. We rotate classes through the exhibits so everyone gets to see everything. We try to have the same exhibits each day. We wll also have a break for lunch. All attendees should bring their own bag lunch. Our gift shop will be open for sales and limited snacks only.
To have your class attend, you must register ahead of time. We can only accept a limited number of students each day, so register early if you must have a specific day. The cost is $6 per student, teacher, or supervisor. The fee can be paid in advance, or on arrival at Pioneer Acres. Any additional adults other than those listed will be charged the full regular day admission.
To register your class, please send us an email or call us as indicated on our contact page. Our curator will be happy to work with you to make all the arrangements.
Teachers: Please note that if your class cannot attend the Pioneer Farm Life Theme Days but you still wish to bring the class on a field trip to Pioneer Acres, we can make arrangements for another day. Your visit will be somewhat more quiet but we can still arrange for some activities and demonstrations. Feel free to contact us for more information.
Winter Hours: Closed due to COVID-19 restrictions.
