COVID-19 Statement

Pioneer Acres will be open to the public starting on July 1, 2020. We are doing our part in the ongoing effort to flatten the curve and reduce the impact of COVID-19 on our healthcare system. Our staff and board of directors are following the advice and guidelines provided by Alberta Health Services.

The Alberta Government Relaunch Strategy allowed for museums to re-open in Stage 1, which started on May 14. Although we would have liked to be open on that date, we did not feel that we could be ready by then. We remained closed until July 1 as we developed policies and procedures to keep our visitors, employees, and volunteers safe.

All of our feature events are cancelled for this year. When the museum re-opens in July, most of our displays will be static but we do hope to have some equipment running on occasion. We are excited to be showing off our new Grain Academy exhibit, so we hope that folks will come out to see it.

We are still taking every measure to ensure we continue to protect and maintain our assets during this unprecedented time. Pioneer Acres staff are available via email or telephone to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Please see our contact page for ways to do that.

If you are staff, a member, or a volunteer, please stay off the grounds if you or someone you are close to:

  • is ill or has a fever, cough, or shortness of breath
  • has exposure to someone diagnosed with COVID-19
  • is self-isolating or under quarantine
  • has travelled internationally in the last 14 days
  • has any health conditions that may impact others
